the tactic is very useful for slow castles, plus it helps in battles against a serious army; you can hide archers, bring up dwarves or dendroids, or zombies.... At first, I didn't like the tactic either, but then they explained its essence to me, and sometimes I use it.

in games against the computer, it can be annoying sometimes, but in a game against another person, it is indispensable.
