What privileges did the griffons have in Erathia? They even had a lower level than here; as far as I remember, they were just ordinary hounds.

The Feudal Holy Empire, or Haven, is the most powerful of the states. This is a kingdom of medieval knights and monks, mainly using Light and Life magic and elite angel troops. The Empire chose the griffon as its symbol. Tamed griffons are used by the imperial nobility as flying hounds, and sometimes even for riding. On the battlefield, the troops are famous for their extreme perseverance. They rely more on powerful brute force than on subtle magical arts. The heroes of the Empire are trained in the skills and abilities necessary to burst into the enemy's battle formations with a whirlwind of steel and fury.
