I cannot agree. I read the book as a child in 2 nights. The movie is certainly not the book, but why go that far. Yes, frankly speaking, the budget was a bit low, but the acting is simply top-class. This isn't LotR, which the whole world admires first of all because of its pomposity, the amount of money poured into it, and a properly constructed advertising strategy. To be honest, I read The Hobbit back in primary school and didn't have much desire to watch LotR; when it came out, I was just curious where they could pour so much money. I'm not saying LotR is trash, far from it... I just think that LotR rules its own theme and M&M rules its own. After all, no one will argue that M&M isn't fantasy :).
