God... Truth or fiction?

The statement that morality wouldn't exist without religion may be true, at least because religion has existed for almost as long as humanity itself. But there's another example – the Soviet atheist state. There, morality was maintained by the "party line," and even something like a high-ranking official's infidelity could cost him his career. In other words, morality can be regulated by law, not religious law, but state law.
