They fish and eat the fish. They grow grains that can thrive in that climate (oats, barley, rye, etc.) and root vegetables. They hunt local wildlife.
The animal life of the north includes a wide variety of animals, including those you mentioned, but they are aggressive towards humans, unlike the numerous domesticated dog breeds – some serve as helpers in hunting, scouting, and battles, while others are used as draft animals on snow or ice.
