I think I spent a couple of hours on restarts...

Well, not just that. I was more focused on how to complete it faster. I made a few saves, but didn't find the right one, so I gave up and finished it in 4 days. I even dug up the Grail to get 496 points :D

I was thinking about doing it in 2 days with the Moon faction and a wall, but there isn't enough mana for the last guard....
and you also have to reach not only the AI's Castle, but also its heroes.

For that, you need a very precise selection of guards; it's too much hassle. You don't even need to catch the AI heroes, because they leave the Castle on their turn and can therefore return to defend their Castle.
