Her cabin mate turned out to be a quiet elderly man. She liked this, as he didn't disturb her sleep and, fortunately, didn't snore (???), but at the same time, his taciturnity was a little unsettling: since they had set sail, they hadn't really had a chance to talk.
"Hey, bunny ears," she said to him, waking him up if he was asleep. There was still a long voyage ahead, so getting to know her companion would clearly not be superfluous, or at least, it wouldn't hurt. Well, and she was just plain bored.
