I don't understand The_'s complaints. In SoD, only the Miner can, under certain circumstances, take a double Griffin Conservatory on the first day, and a single one is almost guaranteed without serious losses. That's an obvious imbalance, and they fixed it.

Also, in terms of the number of creatures in starting stacks in SoD, only Gremlins match Troglodytes, but Tower doesn't have a Gremlin specialist. That also seems like an obvious imbalance.
