we played on full random, after a few restarts Inferno comes up, I decide to play, opponent had no restarts left. I honestly don't have much experience playing SoD, but now I know that Inferno here is trash, the scum of all towns, same as Tower. imho.
Necropolis heroes didn't work out for me, so week 1 was played, let's say, unimpressively, mostly grabbing gold and resource chests. I miraculously took the swamp village without getting caught out. Thing is, buggy entry and exit portals (one-way portals) were generated. The exit portal is right on the road and blocks passage, looking like a mountain. I see one-way portals of the exact same colors on another territory, in total there are 4, 2 entries, 2 exits, all the same color. Having blocked one of the exits, I risk it and jump with my entire army — 2 Efreeti, 4 Demons, etc. — on day 115 and take the village. There was honestly no clear way out until the end, whether there was an exit or not; in short, I got lucky, bought a hero there, and the two of them managed to pull through in a circuit.
I build up levels 1-6 without Pits in the Citadel. On day 121, Gunnar comes in as the 9th hero, I take it (resources are traded, Pits aren't an option), run out of the castle towards the computer, a block of 9 Unicorns guards a Ring of +1 Speed, I grab it, losing everyone except Demons and Efreeti; essentially it's a max of one and a half turns from my castle to the computer, a whole week gone. Okay, we play on, I scout the Griffin Conservatory, but I have nothing to take it with — that's when it hit me: 5 Efreeti and a dozen Demons are worthless, Gog doesn't play, Pits are expensive on resources, you can't always upgrade them to demonize from level 2, well I took Tower, and that needs resources too. Mines helped a bit, and then around day 124 or 125 I'm rushing with 5 Efreeti, and the opponent crashes into me with 5 Cavaliers, 24 Archers, and plenty of other stuff. And that's it, I have nothing to answer with, I don't surrender, but I lose the Efreeti and run away. A skirmish war broke out, the opponent took Conflux, bought birds there, and came with Labetha to the Tower, which I'd invested a significant sum into, hoping for Naga by day 131. He takes the Tower, thereby claiming the Nagas for himself. Oh well, I tell myself for the 3rd time, I buy up on day 131, transfer to Gunnar, who is standing by a horde of upgraded Earth Elementals, I kill them, but then I simply can't handle the Maximus Ulm, just a nightmare, GG.
A good experience regardless, and thanks to the opponent, who wasn't too upset despite me not living up to his expectations...
