Good and evil.

I am very interested in one question (purely from a philosophical point of view): Is war good or evil? For me, the answer is obvious... But is it always a manifestation of evil, violence, and a kind of expression of "love for one's neighbor"? How should we reconcile this with the assertion that there is no pure good or absolute evil?
