Animals are killed (which is evil for them), but people enjoy it (which is good). Every action contains both good and evil. It all depends on the ratio. We usually call those actions good in which the proportion of good is greater. However, if you were sacrificed for the common good, you might interpret that action differently. And the axe described above is a symbol of power. It only amplifies the scale and significance of the action.
