I would write that a few years after the founding of the new Arcondia, a massive volcano unexpectedly erupted in the old one, followed by an earthquake that destroyed the entire continent, which then sank beneath the waves overnight. And the founders of the colony are still trying to find their homeland, like the ancient Atlantis.
