Okay, I have to give him credit; this time, I asked him to guess three characters – Jamie, Akinator, and Rodney King. He guessed the first two on the first try, and the last one on the second. Maybe things aren't so bad after all.

The popularity of some characters increases over time, while the popularity of others decreases. Accordingly, the program tries to suggest more popular characters, for which the algorithm is better developed (due to the large number of iterations), and does not suggest less popular ones (assuming that they will not be guessed anyway, and if they are, the algorithm will most likely not work very well and will lead to some non-standard situation that is not in the database => a dead end). Therefore, the probability that Akinator will guess a "not trendy" character is not very high, although it most likely still exists, but it is rarely realized.
I'm not sure if Rodney King can be called a "trendy" and "popular" character. In fact, during the entire existence of Akinator, he has been guessed 215 times. And Akinator doesn't even know that he is already dead.
