Well, on my main, I chose religious decisions, but in moderation. That is, I didn't ban space flight just because God forbids it; I allowed cloning and generally tried to impose religiosity only from the moral side of behavior—for example, long skirts and clothing without cleavage for women, etc.—rather than in a way that would hinder progress. Of course, increasing religiosity this way will take more time than if you simply accepted all religious decisions one after another.
