Imagine this situation: Alex signed up for a tournament, won 3 games, and lost 1 to you, after which he withdrew. Would it be fair to annul all his results in this case? To prevent people from thinking and guessing about what is right and what is fair, there is a rule: If a withdrawing player has played less than 50%, they are excluded, and their results are annulled. If a withdrawing player has played 50% or more of the games, all results are preserved, and they receive technical losses for the games they did not play. We have been playing this way for years.
