Mika, I actually have two strong objections to voting in a separate thread: 1) The GM will have to read "all this mountain of fluff" every time they enter the thread, and in the process, they may note changes in the votes and post "the latest rankings of candidates as of." And you will only have to scroll through the thread from the end to the GM's post with the results.

2) "Mafia-style manipulations" are much easier to disguise. Ask a player why they voted to execute X, and they'll say, "I don't remember, I justified my vote - look for it yourself."
