Arranging to play HoMM3 online!

Is there really no one to play with on the entire platform? When I add someone and offer to play, they immediately start using local slang and so on, or say things like "I've already made plans" or "I don't think I'll enjoy playing with you".... Is it really that hard to find someone to play with? Or do the local players judge skill level based on usernames?
