Did the Greens retreat?

I played for a couple more weeks, and I don't know who retreated to whom, but I engaged the Green faction – we clashed over a gold mine near the eastern surface exit. Two poisoners worked in tandem – first, Letus, with seven archers, inflicted about 30% damage to his army and retreated, and then, on the same day, before the enemy could recover, Sigrif's partner finished the job (again, using only archers). IMHO – it was a good deal: I exchanged 7 + 7 archers for a bunch of rare artifacts, and the mine remained under my control (and Letos? Letos hired again :) ).
