It's usually harder to break through the bird nest's defenses than to capture the nest itself.

It's harder, unless we're talking about Jebus or 8xm12, and even then it depends on the type of defense. But inside the nest, it can be really tough if you don't have decent damage dealers, mass magic, and troops from the first week.
