However, with the SoD timer, you won't have any leeway in any case.Despite all my respect for Pete, the result of his poll was an average temperature across the board:D.

Any intellectual game also has a time limit because intelligence must be demonstrated quickly. Even in "What? Where? When?" you have one minute to answer. And in chess, there's blitz, which no one complains about. I recommend learning about the history of chess clocks and why this need arose (initially, they played without a time limit). The SoD timer may make simple battles more comfortable, but the game process on the map is the opposite.
For Dirty, in all official Competitive events (worldwide), there was only one type of chess for the USSR: with a control of 2.5 hours for 40 moves, then the move was recorded, and the game continued the next day. Currently, there are normal chess, rapid chess, and blitz. These are three completely different types of chess, but all chess players can play them more or less comfortably. Blitz is now played in the playoffs when it is not possible to determine the winner by other means. The game lasts 11 (6+5) minutes - 11 minutes of maximum adrenaline. If we reduce Heroes to blitz, it will be 9+ hours of adrenaline, and perhaps there will be those who want to. For now, as a result of the average temperature across the board, we will most likely get rapid Heroes (similar to rapid chess). As an initial option for introducing a chess timer, it needs to be tried and then adjusted. In my opinion, the minimum time for a battle should be at least one and a half minutes; whether the battle time should be increased if there is a tactic is a question. Naturally, limiting the battle time eliminates the possibility of complex battles, especially if there is no limit on the maximum time (Surmey's suggestion).
I'm curious if anyone counts the damage dealt and the counterattack during a battle? And how can you do it in 1 minute?
P.S. To the fast Heroes players (especially those who accuse me of playing too slowly, like Nitro (we played 2 games a year ago), Zloy (1 game, I don't think there was any objectivity here), and Leader (not even 1 game, but I heard rumors - you get what you pay for - a very proud statement) and everyone else), I suggest playing a blitz chess game with a time control of 5 minutes (for example). Good luck, guys!
