I used both rests. The start was extremely unfortunate — in 5 days I didn't find a single object. Only towards the end of the week I scouted 3 Dragon Fly Hives and an external dwelling of Wyverns; it took a couple of days to gather everything. Tazar leveled up decently and got good stats, but due to the timer running out I didn't have time to refill mana, so I had to go into ГО with what I had (about 4 slow casts). I gathered 27 monarchs, broke through ГО from Crystal Dragons at 123, and right after that got into a long fight for КВ with Behemoths. Barely managed to beat them, but didn't have time to take the book. My opponent managed to reach it on his turn and grabbed the book with the last move. I didn't have many options — I had to fight; I outsmarted the opponent with Cielek for -4 Wyverns, attacked with Tazar, got Shield Implosion, and surrendered.
