From X2SO4, there was an idea regarding the timer. Could we introduce an option to choose a timer for each game individually for each player? For example, one player sets a SOD timer for themselves, while the other sets a chess timer, and each timer counts down according to its own rules in the same game. Since there are some fans of the SOD timer, and it's difficult for them to switch to a chess timer, or they simply don't want to.
The chess timer was introduced not for oneself, but for the opponent, so that they would make moves faster. Therefore, your question doesn't make sense.
