When Arnold's plan was put into action, the explosion was so loud that it could be heard throughout the city. He himself observed it from the roof of a neighboring, lower skyscraper. An entire block of the building (approximately one-quarter) was torn to shreds, all the way to the roof, including the board of directors' meeting room. Despite this, Arnold was disappointed: the "roof" of the laboratory was completely undamaged, as was any other part of it. This section of the building was likely fortified better than a bomb shelter.

Headquarters sounded the alarm, "code red." All available soldiers were ordered to go into full combat readiness, secure the floors, investigate what happened at the top, and prepare for a possible invasion by the Vyronian forces.
