Is death the end of the road or the beginning of a new life?

I read about an interesting experiment related to an attempt to look "beyond." The idea was that people were put into a special state, similar to hypnosis, and they were given the suggestion of their own death, and after "death," they were asked to describe the place where they found themselves. And people with similar religious beliefs described this place in a very similar way. Christians talked about heaven, Buddhists about reincarnation, and some talked about an endless journey... The interesting thing is that atheists didn't go anywhere – they simply "fell into nothingness."
