This is a question in the same vein as "drugs: good or bad?". The fact that there are clinics that treat gaming addiction suggests that there's a reason for it. However, both a drug addict and a staunch opponent of drugs believe that the other is living a detrimental life, denying themselves true values. And both are 100% certain of their own rightness.
It seems to me that this is going too far. Drugs are definitely evil (except for medical necessity). If "they" are good for someone, then that person needs to see a psychiatrist at the very least.
