On the first, I placed wyverns in the Stronghold and took the native secondary town, which also had them in the Fort. There were some hiccups: I skipped several turns with heroes and building. Solmyr arrived, and I wanted to send him to attempt a rush, but I never found a path through the secondary town. There simply wasn't one.
On the second, I scouted the respawn still hoping, took an external dwelling of hydras (they were also native), a Griffin Conservatory level three (with the hydras being wasted — a failure) and scouted a bit of the treasure zone. The Hive behind the Titans didn't help at all.
On the third, I went into the large sandy treasure zone and stalled there for the whole week. I revealed 2 Dragon Utopias and claimed the Boots. Lost an angel. General total: 29 wyverns.
Overall, wandering there without pathfinding was no fun. I lost a lot of time. Played slowly and without tempo. The Dragon Utopias were minimal: Guardian's Shield and Sandals. Also Shackles. Then I was attacked. I evacuated my army beforehand. But I essentially had nowhere to go. I had a strong and persistent feeling that the game was already lost. I decided to just go home and upgrade the wyverns, and refill mana. But I didn't make it; I was attacked on the way.
The FB was very interesting and long. We hammered each other for about an hour. I thought the opponent's resurrection would decide it. From magic, I had Mass Slow, Shield, Haste, and 20 mana. But. His magic resistance triggered — thanks for that. And luck was very much on my side. In short, FB really carried on luck. In the end, the opponent made a mistake, thinking I didn't have the Shackles. But I did :D That whole sum of factors determined my victory.
Thanks for the game!
I did my best under the actual conditions, development was smooth, successfully built dual same-town unit production, trained scholarship to get resurrection, built a level 5 guild in week 3 and cleared a treasure zone, but only got Wings, SP2, and 18 Wyverns. However, necromancy gave 80 Demons, a strong economy suitable for recovery after a setback. In week 4, I reached the middle and captured the enemy's main town.
Lider1 also built dual same-town units, entered a treasure zone with great gains, amassed a huge number of Wyverns, and ended up with far superior forces and powerful artifacts, including Shackles, D=27, and 120 Shooters. But after I rapidly captured their territory, they were forced to retreat from the treasure zone and were attacked by me when low on mana. Lider1 also thought they were surely doomed.
Our decisive battle took over an hour and was highly dramatic. Some minor artifacts and skills determined the battle's outcome:
Lider1 had only 20 mana, only Mass Shield and Mass Slow available, and with many Shooters, used Tactics to surround them with units; I had 120+ mana, and though my forces were weaker, I had many spells available: Mass Slow, Shield, Meteor Shower, Mass Curse, Bloodlust, Frenzy, Summon Fire. However, many unexpected events occurred, and I lost this battle.
The unexpected events were: Lider1 had 10% magic resistance — whenever I used a mass spell, one unit, and a strong one at that, would resist: Angel and Hydra resisted Meteor Shower, Wyverns resisted Mass Curse and Slow, Shooters resisted Mass Curse. Lider1 had luck-boosting artifacts, and Wyvern and Shooter squads often dealt double damage.
I lost a battle I seemed certain to win, and the presence of Shackles left no room for a war of attrition.
Thx for good game
