2. It's been clear for a long time that the so-called "sod-timer" is archaic because it often negates the difference in skill. For example, for the same battle, a top player might take 2 minutes to complete it with minimal losses, while an average player takes 5 minutes. With a chess timer, this can have a decisive impact on determining the outcome of the game. I don't even understand what the argument is about. If we're talking about a casual game, then of course, the timer doesn't matter. But when it comes to identifying more skilled players in tournaments, the "sod-timer" is simply ridiculous.
