I agree, but it's not a panacea. If you have undead monsters, they make up 1/4 of the map, and if they happen to be Phoenixes or Magma Drakes, then all your dark creatures become useless. But summoning can get you out of seemingly impossible situations; the Wall of Swords is a good example.
