When Amos reached the "Breeze," he once again encountered Laust Brightstrider and witnessed an unusual (again) scene involving him and a woman. Amos might have seen her on the tournament participant list.
- Laust!
- Riza.
The girl unexpectedly drew a two-handed sword and lunged into an attack. Laust, in turn, dodged two deadly swings and then, slipping under the sword, struck the woman hard in the stomach with his knee. She fell to her knees, coughing.
Laust smiled and offered the attacker a hand.
- No wonder you lost in the second round, he commented.
- Were you watching? I thought you didn't like the coliseum, like all meaningless fights.
- That's true, but I couldn't miss my sister's fight. The two, talking amicably, hugged and then left the deck.
