As an orphan, this Khontai girl, whose appearance betrayed her lineage as one of the chosen of the moon, could hardly expect much from life. But one day, fortune smiled upon her in the form of a group of devoted servants of the Emperor, or, to put it simply, Ataraxian fanatics. Taking pity on yet another orphan, they took her in and began raising her alongside the others, regardless of her ancestry. These days were hardly happy: instead of killing and stealing to survive, Anelai was taught to kill for the sake of others' survival. And as the girl grew older, she saw more clearly that the Ataraxians were stubborn fanatics who engaged in self-deception. This wasn't true of everyone; young acolytes had a broader view of the world, but over time, they either died, deserted, or broke under pressure from their elders. Often, "family" actions harmed people who naively made deals with demons but did not wish harm to those around them, or demon-born individuals who were simply unlucky enough to be born as such. One moment, Anelai's patience snapped, and she staged her own death, escaped, and subsequently avoided any encounters with Ataraxian observers. Since then, she adopted a new name, similar to the children of Nox/Sanexis, and when necessary, presented herself as one of them.
Partly out of a spirit of contradiction and partly out of a desire to make up for lost time, Anelai entered into a contract with Xipil. She knew that the demon was hardly kinder than her former guardians, but at least he didn't hide it behind a facade of virtue. And orders from him came less frequently, so the harm to people was not so great. However, her service to Xipil also came to an end, ending with unknown scoundrels depriving the demon of his knowledge of life. These were likely the machinations of the Ataraxians.
Having freed herself, Anelai decided to go to her homeland to learn more about her people and, in the process, try to find peace within herself. Unfortunately, despite her prayers, Amrita never answered the Khontai girl. However, here, Anelai met another former follower of Xipil, Saeros Tingol. They talked, and after some time, Saeros allowed the girl to look at some extremely curious records, which, according to him, were nothing more than the diary of a witch from the wild lands. However, soon after this, their paths diverged, and Anelai, fearing the persecution of mages that had begun, went to Nevermore. There, disheartened by Amrita's silence, she embraced the faith of Nox and, deciding that it would be safest to stay there, settled down. Of course, she did not fail to change her appearance as well, in order to completely forget her past. She earned a living mainly by creating money out of thin air using magic. If need arose, Anelai was not above taking on assassination contracts or... creating engineering devices. Their quality, of course, was inferior to Ivissa's creations, but the prices were much lower. Naturally, if blueprints were provided to clients, Anelai didn't hesitate to create copies.
