This is all reinventing the wheel and pulling ideas out of thin air. Such behavior is a big and not entirely justified risk for a Mafia, especially when there is no support. Theoretically, I could actually do this, but do I need to?

It doesn't matter. The point is that such a possibility exists in principle (I could have chosen accordingly based on the described options, or I might not have, and no one can know for sure except for you). To claim that this is absolutely impossible is at least strange.
