Assembly language is definitely not suitable for PCs; nowadays, it's a highly specialized tool. If you're familiar with C, there are three options suitable for writing software for PCs: C++, Java, and C#. All three have C-like syntax, so learning them won't be difficult. But I wouldn't recommend C++ for initial learning, as its scope of application isn't as broad; it's better to choose Java or C#, which are easier to learn and have higher demand in the job market. Both options have their pros and cons; I'm learning Java, and you can also write programs for Android with it.
