Nemo was only mildly interested in the nobles who showed up for the parade, of course, they had polished their faces and powdered their armor; it was all just for show. After that, she immediately went to fill out some paperwork; this would ensure she had at least some money. On-site, she registered for the expedition as Mark Schiller, a young, experimental mage who had likely suffered incurable burns during an experiment but had also gained incredible strength and endurance as a result. Mark was signing up for the expedition because his laboratory had burned down, and he had no intention of remaining a disfigured wretch for the rest of his days; he wanted to find a way to heal himself. And for that, he needed money, and a lot of it. While filling out the paperwork, Nemo casually, but deliberately, showed off a patch of "burned" skin, only to immediately cover it up shyly. It depends on whether you're looking for the Grail, like I am.
