water magic isn't that necessary, except maybe to dispel spells, clone, and sometimes teleportation works...
moving on water is rarely needed...
fire magic has good offensive spells, air magic is useful for speed, flight, and spatial gates, and earth magic - for slowing and city portals...
and of course, some other spells.
