How to defeat Deleb on "Old Friends"?

Practically any Academy hero (not necessarily Hafiz) can defeat Daleb on this map.
Ora, Nura, Narhiz, and of course - Nazir.

Could you suggest a development strategy? I don't quite understand how elephants can win. If it's not a Machine hero, there's always a problem with the Elven Archers, Mages, and Druids. And there are usually logistical issues. The only advantage is the sand in the center. With Nazir, mana usually runs out quickly, and you can't go far from the well.
