So, it won't work for special units, no matter what... We could also add the ability to convert dwellings or place "our own" neutral creature in an empty space. Dwellings are too bulky and can easily serve as an insurmountable obstacle.

And placing a neutral creature is basically a field spell. It can only be used to add your own creatures (I already wrote a similar script for Kine). This will give very large tactical possibilities, starting with blocking caravans and ending with transferring an army.
