I spent 5 years playing Lineage 2, then WoW, and then Lineage 2 again. Players who only play 8 hours a day are still considered casuals. Only a few players can afford to cash out (leaders and officers of the top guilds, as well as virtuoso bot users who combine "normal" gameplay with farming). By the way, in WoW specifically, there is a whole class of guilds that only focus on obtaining "achievements," and that really takes a lot of time :D
