In my opinion, there are even more possibilities than just 1 out of 3. It seems a bit naive to blindly believe others' conclusions.
During the investigation of the crime scene, a fragment of an old article about the Franco-British meeting in San Remo was found.
Perhaps it's a hint at the conference in 1920, but other countries were also involved, if I'm not mistaken. It might be possible to try to connect the year with some profile or something else.
