Regarding the lag issue, I can say one thing. I used to have this problem. Completely disconnecting the router from the network for half a day and completely unplugging the computer from the outlet helped. (I don't know, maybe something overheats there). I don't know what it's connected to. Now I've made a switch: when I need to use multiple computers, I connect them to the internet through the router, and when I don't need to, I connect them directly. It's been two months, and I haven't had any problems so far. Knock on wood.
