With a playstyle like that, you could have been beaten. I hesitated for too long and ignored the Griffin Conservatory\hives in favor of territory control. No Dragon Utopia was found, the plan failed, and I had to build control manually. By the end of the game, on the 3rd attempt, I finally got Town Portal, some Dragon Utopias were found, I reunited my power and waited for contact. The opponent attacked on their own; having a cloak for magic sped up the procedure. It was managed without a final battle.
