My wife calls Psionic creatures "pugs." :D Now I call them that too. :)
I used to call Halberdiers "coin-makers."
Of the other creatures:
Crusaders - paladins, palychi.
Monks - hooded ones.
Centaurs - kents.
Gnomes - gnomes :) (a friend of mine started calling them that back in the last century, when Heroes 2 was just released).
Unicorns - rogues, unicorns.
Gremlins - grems.
Gargoyles - gargis.
Golems - idols/iron idols.
Trogolodites - troglos and... I can't really write that on a decent forum, but basically, they look like that. :D
Harpies - little hangers-on.
Minotaurs - minas.
Walking Dead - cripples.
Spirits - old ladies.
Vampires - vamps.
Bone Dragons - paper.
Hobgoblins - hobies.
Gnolls - shameful wolves.
Snakes - little hangers-on.
Basilisks - basi.
Wyverns - ducks (picked that up from a forum).
Fairies - butterflies.
P.S.:

A hero in a party, running around the map with a strong army of native creatures, with a few non-native creatures mixed in - "one who carries a loser" A hero who enters a battle to run away and reappear in a town - "loser"
