With a style of play like that, you could have been beaten. I hesitated for too long and ignored the Griffin Conservatory/hives in favor of territory control. No Dragon Utopia was found, the plan failed, and I had to build control manually. By the end of the game, on the 3rd attempt, I finally got Town Portal; some Dragon Utopias were found, I consolidated my power and waited for contact. The opponent attacked first, and having a cloak for magic speeded up the process. It was handled without a final spell.
