New templates require new ideas.
Each template has its own ideological component, such as Jeb, Mini-Nosty, Diamond; each template has its own play style. There's no point in creating a bunch of identical templates just for the sake of it. The last new idea was TDD, but it didn't catch on. :(
Vik seems to be running out of steam. We won't see any new worthwhile templates. :(
