Confirmed. I found the treasure chest too late, and it was empty: I explored 70% of the map, found 1 relic, 2 gold mines, an underwater temple, and a magic resource, that's all the treasure... and I also lost 60% of my knights, goblins, and women during the exploration. The opponent had the opposite: a lot of mermaids and temples, and several gnomish and dragon resources.
