I found a solution, Imp! You just need to upgrade peasants to archers and leave them as they are! As practice shows, there's less use in militia.
Are upgraded archers still more powerful than non-upgraded ones? Who didn't upgrade often used the "Arrow Storm" ability? I just upgraded to crossbowmen out of habit, and I accidentally discovered the ability when playing with a weak army.
