If anything were to be taken from World of Warcraft, it would be removing one-sided units and restructuring the guild system in the first place. Then, the timer needs to be refined. And the biggest breakthrough would be simultaneous turns, rather than the current turn-based system.
If there are opponents to the restructuring, arguing that it changes the gameplay, then removing one-sided units would be a great improvement and I'm sure everyone would like it. Simultaneous turns, I suspect, would be much more difficult to implement. Both would be very cool, in my opinion.
