January 21, 2014 Volodymyr (red, Castle, Valeska, Mephala) def Pyre (blue, Fortress, Tazar), 8mm6a, 224

I immediately focused on a pack of war lizards; archers weren't built yet. I set up a chain to the crypt to somehow upgrade my 23 archers; there are guys from the second hero available. The next day, it turned out that there was no path to the crypt, so I attacked the lizards and, in a panic, almost sacrificed all my guys in auto-battle. After moving a little further, hello! A horde of harpies appeared, but luckily, I could go around them through the grass. For extra safety, I placed another group of war lizards a bit further away, guarding the second shrine, but there was an alternate route. And near the horse camp, there were more lizardmen guarding the obelisk. In the end, I spent more time running through the grass than along the roads. I broke into the lair, but then I encountered a horde of earth elementals, and beyond them, the road led upwards past the castle, and I ended up going around in circles at the respawn point. I built horses in the stronghold; I have two cavalry units, one at the respawn point and one underground.

I checked both cavalry units – they were throne guards. I found a quest artifact near the huts behind a group of ogre mages. I decided to give it to Galtaran to complete the quest and also clear out the huts. After the battle with the ogres, the hut dwellers didn't want to prove anything anymore, so I decided to gain some authority. While carrying the treasure back, I thought about stopping by the Medusa Lair! What’s there? 5 speed... but we are underground, even if on Inferno difficulty. To my surprise, 8 medusas attacked before my guy, who was supposed to block them, could act. The guests shouted "What the...", as they got completely wrecked (and Leader, meanwhile, was already rubbing his hands). They cast spells and used morale attacks, hitting from left and right. I barely managed to escape, all the marksmen were killed, and the horse unit too - I don't remember ever seeing such powerful medusas (I assume that now Leader is dancing and singing, here he is, the spoiled VT player, relaxed and accustomed to easy wins, but no, in the Sod dungeon, the medusas always have 6 speed and full stacks with morale; what do you expect?). It's frustrating, of course, but I wasn't upset; I just decided to adapt (c). Since I have a large respawn point, we will look for money and build angels. By the way, the quest gives 15k experience, so I decided to take it with Mephala and start gathering cavalry units from week three.

Angels appeared + another cavalry unit, also throne guards.

After that, things weren't particularly interesting. I completed the quest; there was no mana potion. Mephala killed a trio underground, then Galtaran killed one more on the grass, and on day 135, Gurmi dealt with the maximum-level enemy – it went well, considering the distances involved.

On day 141, I took the central village, a dungeon. There, I found 2 Dragon Utopias for red shards! Gladius, Titan Shield. I even found 3 more cavalry units, but apparently as compensation for all the others they gave me, only enough for 4 angels. I found bracers too; luckily, I ran around everywhere because it wasn't clear where to find my opponent. This is the first game in Sod where I didn't play against someone who used single-sided maps, but this was something else.
I placed archons; on the fourth tower, I got a Town Portal scroll. I almost cried; I couldn't believe it was possible. I started jumping between single-sided maps, somehow making my way to Flaks' computer. There, I found a flask, which I needed for the elixir.

On day 221, I saw Tazar again, and I almost got emotional. The poor guy was also struggling, not knowing what hole to crawl into so that we could finally meet. On day 223, he came to my main computer. And here it is, face-to-face battle. The parameters are equal: there are 70 monarchs, 9 hydras, 45 great vultures, etc.; I have 21 Archons with an elixir buff, and the rest isn't particularly important. GG! Thanks for the game!

After spending 16+ hours of real life playing this match and having only one battle, it seemed like something was wrong here. Although, maybe everything is normal; Heroes isn't about player vs. player, it's about mega-battles in Medusa Lairs where neutrals use morale attacks. So, I don't know how many "bang banks" I took or anything else; everything was done on auto-battle. Right, that’s where the “papstvo” (a term likely referring to exploiting mechanics) comes from, and you talk about control, restructuring... You just relax too much
