I drove myself into a complete dead end by taking the last random, playing as red and having a playable hand. I wanted chocolate. Instead, I got marmalade! Little gold from the start, immediately lots of blocks, shooters, snakes, air elementals, the road goes around the Castle, GO angels. There was no question of any birds, there were no roads, no money, and consequently no gold. By the first week I barely raised 80 skeletons (and that only thanks to Vidomina, because Ciele advanced necromancy all the way to level 6), took an external water dwelling, built a few cottages in the Citadel. I went into the adjacent Conflux zone without a road, but didn't reach the town due to a block of 20+ pegasi. There's a 20-unit Dwarf Cottage (the only money-making structure in the area) and a 2-unit Griffin Conservatory.
On day 121 I took the Dwarf Cottage, on day 123 Vidomina destroyed the Griffin Conservatory. I left 70 skeletons and 5 air and water elementals there. Then a few more losses on piles of pegasi standing everywhere they possibly could, finally advanced necromancy, picked up the Cloak +2 spell power-knowledge. And then on day 124 the opponent pushes into the center and I realize that the chances of winning, already hovering around 5-10%, sharply drop to zero. Shakti has 5-9 bears, stats about twice as high, and I have no army, no leveling, no money, and an income of 1k. My hand reaches for the "gg". I gave up on everything, became Ciele on the road and started guessing on a daisy petal — will he reach me, won't he. He didn't. I crashed with Ciele, no money for the ransom, ran Vidomina cross-country to the second adjacent zone, also a grassy one. I raised skeletons to 100, found a Naga Bank (oh God, a second money-making structure in the whole game, what luck!), though taking it was still hard, since it was tier 3 with Haste. I killed a pack of Manticores for the portal to the center, took the Rampart adjacent zone, and crashed Ciele there. Ciele broke through via "vaseks" into the center, there was a Necropolis town and under it the Cloak +10%. I returned the army to Vidomina, broke through the annoying creature — on its guard (100+ Gargoyles with Haste) an angel dies thanks to morale+anti-morale. This was on day 131. I cursed a lot, but at least there were already 220 skeletons, and a hundred Faerie Dragons could be thrown into the converter. Though there was no money, and no chains home (and what chains, when distances are like from Kyiv to Omsk).
And then came the end... A furry little animal named Shakti takes my Necropolis town. My hand reaches for the "gg" for the second time in the game. I decide to wait. They pass me the turn and I can't believe my eyes! There are only 1-4 bears and a couple of other creatures. I realize there was a hard loss at the GO. I don't attack without mana and oil, I take the Cloak, build a chain from home, restore mana in Rampart. Shakti takes a box behind a horde of nomads and runs away. I retake the Necropolis town, build the Converter, 400 skeletons (+angel and 40-something air and water elementals).
Then Shakti ran to the treasure zone, while I finally leveled up oil and took both of his home dungeons from him by the end of week 3, and then I started eating up various goodies in the central zones (Shield +4, Armor +1 to all, Dragon Fly Hive for 6 Wyverns, external market, that much-suffered Naga Bank). On day 144 I break through my GO of 15 angels with Haste, sacrifice 4 Wyverns and 35 skeletons, send air and water through a prepared chain for upgrade, Ciele gets double mana and learns lightning in the dungeon, 174 mana, 700 skeletons, a horde of Ice Elementals and Storm Elementals, ready to meet Shakti coming from the treasure zone. But he decides not to drag it out and writes "gg". Thanks for the game!
