ekzekutor (Humans, Vitya) defeated noom (Humans, Dugal) in week 8 of the lab game.
We were both accumulating resources, and Dugal would occasionally come to harass me. But we never actually fought until the very end. I couldn't find any resurrection spells on the map, so I wasn't in a hurry to attack. Instead, I focused on building up my Dwarf and Lion armies. Eventually, I decided to go on the offensive and pressure Dugal, and after a positional war, I forced him to come out into the open. My Dwarf army and a slightly larger force of other units then sealed his fate.
Thanks for the game.
It happened. In turns 1-3-4, Iris and Dugal showed up. I decided to try to catch my opponent in the center with Dugal, but I didn't have enough momentum. On turn 4, I immediately took the Treasure Chamber and built a maximum-level Utopia and a Mini-Shrine. Basically, besides money, a couple of Dragon artifacts, and +1 boots, I didn't get anything else from the Treasure Chamber. On week 5, I finally broke through to my home town, captured the Guardian Tower, and started playing a game of cat and mouse with my opponent. I couldn't control the map properly – we were constantly swapping locations, so at some point, Vitya managed to trap me in my castle. I initially wanted to trick him with 140 monks for 63k, but I changed my mind (and it was the right decision). In the final battle, the Dwarf army turned out to be an unpleasant surprise, and I made a couple of mistakes, losing the game. Thanks for the game.
