I don't see the point in specifying the starting hero; it's random. Someone comes along, I don't remember who, passes on an army, and is immediately forgotten. So, why bother specifying them...

The point is that the tournament is official, all games count towards the rating, and there's a standard format for the report header.
It's clear that the tournament organizer and the person in charge of the rating need all of this the most, and they have plenty of time and nothing else to do, so they'll just remember and specify what you forgot. And Gundula only comes as the starting hero for Grisha's Castle...
